Spies, Soldiers, Couriers, & Saboteurs:

Women of the American Revolution

When was the last time you sat down and read a good book about the revolutionary war? Chances are, that book didn't read like this one does. In her book, Spies, Soldiers, Couriers, & Saboteurs, K M Waldovogel spins a wonderfully written, narrative nonfiction group of stories about some amazing women.

Women that changed the course of the Revolutionary War.

Age Range: 8 to 13

The book is narrative nonfiction and each chapter features a different little-known woman who risked her life to help our country gain its independence from Britain. It takes place in Colonial America during the American Revolution. Each chapter is devoted to a different woman and her heroic actions with the action taking place in the thirteen original colonies.

Book Lessons: The author wants the readers to learn about the United States' history and how women contributed to this history. Since the book is narrative nonfiction the reader is learning how history is more than dates and place, as the book tells the stories of individuals and their determination to stand up for what they believed.

  1. Spies, Soldiers, Couriers, & Saboteurs by K M Waldovogel needs to be in classrooms all over the U.S. If students enjoy reading books like Rebel Girls, they will enjoy reading about these brave women that played instrumental roles in the Revolution.
